Excursions with Irene Belli, an hiking guide, are experiences that will make you live the territory and the village of Pitigliano in an unusual way. Irene, in fact, organizes thematic guided tours focused on archaeology – a subject in which she is an expert – on geology, botany, traditions and much more.
She will lead you along the Vie Cave, the marked and unmarked paths, under the shining sun, when the tuff lights up with the most vivid colors and in the magic of the night, in the light of the moon and the stars. In the nocturnal silences of the Tuscan Maremma the only one speaking is nature and the voice of Irene who, without breaking the spell, will make you notice that imprint in the ground, that rustle among the trees, that detail engraved in the tuff. And with the playback technique she will make you listen live to the songs of the nocturnal birds of prey.
Walking with Irene you will discover unearthed cities and ancient necropolises excavated by the Etruscans, you will learn the secrets of the Rasenna and you will understand why this people created the Vie Cave, which so characterize the territory of the Cities of Tufo.
Along the way you will learn about the plant species of the area, their use in daily life in the past and in folk medicine. You will admire the beauty of wild orchids, so tiny that they escape a casual glance but not that of our guide: small jewels that have nothing to envy to their more showy tropical sisters.
You will learn to recognize birdsong, fallen feathers, animal tracks and, for the amusement of the little ones, even what they leave on the less noble ground. For those who want to learn more, Irene organizes events dedicated to birdwatching (the observation of avifauna) and biowatching (the observation of life forms that populate a territory). At the Agriturismo Le Sorgenti, which she manages together with her partner Alessandro, thanks to her passion for archaeology and nature, she has created an orchard of ancient native Tuscan fruits and a butterfly garden.
Irene will take you through Pitigliano to reach the paths, stopping at the main monuments of the village, telling you the history of the typical products: the sfratto, the oil, the wine and the cheese, with possible tastings. Trekking program for groups, groups of friends and families with environmental education activities for adults and children. Hikers will have fun with small experiments on the rivers and with games on the nuances of nature, the calls…
With Irene the guided tour turns into a little adventure.
