The Cantina di Pitigliano was founded in 1954 with the aim of bringing together and processing the grape production of the “tuff lands” area, in order to offer the market a single, high-quality product.
Moreover, Bianco di Pitigliano wine is one of the first DOCs (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) in Italy — a designation granted to the Cantina di Pitigliano in 1966.
In addition to its renowned Bianco, the winery produces high-quality red wines under the Rosso Sovana and Maremma DOC appellations, as well as sparkling wines. The minerality and freshness of the white wines capture the very essence of the local terroir, while the balance and spicy notes of the reds reflect the character of the soils where the vines grow. Thanks to its own olive mill, the winery also produces extra virgin olive oil.
At the shop on Via Nicola Ciacci, guests can enjoy tastings in a modern space entirely furnished in corten steel. It is also possible to visit the production areas and the historic cellar carved into the tuff rock, located on Via Vignoli in the heart of Pitigliano’s old town.
