It’s like stepping back in time and experiencing the magic of the Renaissance: the County Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the summer, a unique opportunity to discover the village in its historical, fascinating, and engaging guise.
Starting at 5:00 PM, the historic center comes alive with unforgettable experiences: the Osteria del Viandante, offering sandwiches, beer, wine, traditional sweets, and the ever-present Hippocras. The County Market, a fascinating journey through crafts, art, themed stalls, and ancient trades. The historical parade recounts the meeting between Antonio da Sangallo the Younger and the Orsini family, followed by the County Archers’ Tournament.
At the heart of the festival is the Palio dei Rioni, the spectacular contest between Pitigliano’s four historic districts, seeking the favor of Count Niccolò III Orsini. The streets of the village will be enlivened by jesters, acrobats, musicians, soldiers, drummers, archers, dancers, and extras, recreating the atmosphere of the era and offering an unforgettable spectacle for all.
