Alessandro and Irene, the managers of Agriturismo Le Sorgenti, believe that tourism is a right for everyone; consequently, the Italian Ministerial Decree 236/89—which sets standards for accessibility—is far from a “dead letter” at their establishment. They have worked to make the property truly inclusive, ensuring that the ground-floor apartment, “Il Cinghiale,” is accessible to guests with limited mobility, all while preserving the authentic character of the place.
The farmhouse—comprising two independent apartments, “Il Cinghiale” (The Wild Boar) and “La Volpe” (The Fox)—is an old 19th-century rural dwelling that retains all its original charm and rustic character. The structure is built entirely from tuff, travertine, wood, and terracotta. Inside, each apartment features two double bedrooms—each with its own private bathroom—as well as a living area and a kitchenette equipped with tableware, linens, a toaster, an electric kettle, a moka pot, an electric oven, a refrigerator with a freezer, a flat-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi. Outside, a large garden surrounds the property, complete with games for both children and adults, two barbecues, a wood-fired oven, and sun loungers with parasols. Within this green space, a dedicated area serves as a butterfly garden. Alessandro and Irene—the latter an environmental and hiking guide—are so passionate about nature that they cultivate flowers specifically favored by pollinating insects, thereby supporting these small “friends” of the environment. Guests can relax and marvel at the exquisite beauty of species such as the scarce swallowtail, the old world swallowtail, various types of tortoiseshell butterflies, and more.
An opening in the hedge leads to the swimming pool, which is fed by springs on the property; surrounding it is an orchard of heirloom fruit trees. It consists of twenty fruit trees of ancient, native Tuscan varieties, selected thanks to Irene’s passion for archaeology and nature.
There are also olive groves and vineyards, which are such a defining feature of the Tuscan Maremma landscape. Guests can stroll among *Leccino*, *Canino*, and *Leccio del Corno* olive cultivars, or walk between the rows of red grapes used for Maremma DOC wines (Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon).
