An open-air movie evening featuring the Coen Brothers’ film “A Serious Man.”
The film introduces the viewer to Jewish culture by exploring the life of Larry Gopnik, a Jewish physics professor devoted to his work and his family until a series of unfortunate events befall him.
The protagonist’s character is reminiscent of the schlimazel, a typical Yiddish humor figure: a serious but very unlucky man who can’t stop his misadventures. The film is an ironic denunciation of the inevitability of life and the futility of reasoning in the face of the elusive logic of reality.
Popcorn and water will be served during the show.
