Pitigliano is famous all over the world for its panorama, its skyline that can be seen arriving in the tuff towns from the Maremma has now become an icon of Tuscany and beyond, recognizable everywhere at first glance. In reality, what we see arriving from the SS Maremmana, in front of the Sanctuary of the Mandonna della Grazie, although it is the most famous panoramic point of Pitigliano, is not the only one.
In fact, the Terrace of San Michele can be reached on foot from the historic center. We are talking about a long street with a garden usually called a terrace from which you can admire all the beauty of the village nestled on the tuffaceous rock. Here it is possible to stop in the garden being, rest on a bench while admiring the view.
Other interesting viewpoints for admiring the panorama of Pitigliano are the roads that lead to Sorano, both going up from the Pitigliano-Santa Fiora Provincial Road and descending along the Pian della Madonna road in the direction of Sovana.
From these two roads you can admire a less known and particular B side of Pitigliano but of equal beauty. If you decide to stop and take a photo, we ask you to pay attention as there are no pitches for parking.
Other particular panoramic areas are those that can be admired along the panoramic road of the Selciata which surrounds the tuffaceous mass of the town from below along its entire perimeter. From here along the walk it is possible to capture numerous breathtaking views.
The panoramic points that you meet inside the town and which overlook the valleys of the rivers that surround Pitigliano are also very popular. We point out two at the two ends of Piazza della Repubblica and two at the end of the historic city center in Piazza Antonio Becherini and in Vicolo della Riscossa.
