Pitigliano,
the city of tuff
Pitigliano is among the most beautiful villages in Italy, if not the most beautiful in the entire Maremma. Perched on a tuffaceous rock overlooking the valley, it is the ideal destination for those seeking a holiday between nature, history and good food. Of very ancient origins, it is with the Etruscans that Pitigliano begins its long history which will see it at the center of many affairs in the centuries to come.
Always a land of border and integration, Pitigliano is also known throughout the world as La Piccola Gerusalemme due to the presence of a historic Jewish community; testimonies of it are still present today in the old quarter of the town, such as the Jewish ghetto and the Sinagoga.
Pitigliano is associated with: Bandiere Arancioni, I Borghi più Belli d’Italia, Città dell’Olio, Città del Tufo, Città del Vino, Strade del Vino.
